60 Acre Sprinkler This is an
older Gifford Hill installed in 1998 with a new Valley control panel and tower control boxes. Every fall
the gear box drains are pulled to drain water and every spring they are topped off with grease. Very little water
accumulates because the drops have been modified to not spray water on the tower and the sprinkler tracks.
20hp Electric motor and centrifugal pump were new when sprinkler installed.
There is about a 30' drop from the settling pond to the sprinkler, it will use 700 to 800 gpm
The inside 6 towers have Gifford Hill drive train
The outside 4 towers have valley drive conversions, age unknown
This is the storage/settling pond, it services both sprinklers. The screen
for the Gifford Hill is along the left side.
The screen is disconnected from the system and a cap installed so the system
won't seep full while doing field work under the 60 acre sprinkler and irrigating with the 140 acre sprinkler. It only takes a few minutes to align the screen and tie a piece of roofing tin around it. Tin and twine store
in the bucket that keep debris out of screen when disconnected.
